Chiang Mai is known as the Capitol of northern Thailand unlike Bangkok with is noise and bustle, is the second largest city in Thailand. Here you will find a vast array of heritage and culture, with may Buddhist Temples dating back centuries. The most famous of these is the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep on the Doi Suthep Mountain, with a 300 step climb (or take a lift) to the temple with is amazing views over the city. Chiang Mai is also a popular destination for shoppers looking for a bargain with one of the largest night markets in Thailand; from silver jewellery to wooden carvings and clothes, whatever you are looking for on your Chiang Mai holiday you are sure to find it in these markets. For many visitors, a visit to Chiang Mai would not be complete without visiting a Thai cookery school; where you can learn all the skills you need to make delicious Thai food and sample your food at the end. Alternatively a must for anyone travelling to here is the perfect place to get a Thai massage as Chiang Mai is the centre for teaching Thai massage.
